Identify the reasons and evidence a speaker provides to support particular points.

Lesson 1
What does it mean for something to be supported by evidence?
What is a reason?
Are evidence and reasons the same thing?

Watch the videos in the sidebar.

As a class, have a discussion to summarize the videos.
Then list any claims (connections, opinions, feelings, etc) that students have about the videos.
Evaluate which claims have the most supporting evidence or 'reasons' for being true.

Lesson 2
Review the terms from yesterday: evidence, reasons, supported.

Watch the videos in the sidebar.

Review the sentence starters in the Reference menu.
Think (write if you want - Pair - Share at least 2 claims each student has about the video.
As you share, evaluate how well each claim is supported by evidence and reasoning.
